Overview

Pokemon Pokopia and IKEA Japan have launched a collaboration that puts furniture design inside a Pokemon game — and it works better than you'd expect. Starting April 1 and running through June 30, players can visit a cloud island featuring rooms designed by IKEA's interior team, themed around Pikachu and Snorlax.

The collaboration marks IKEA Japan's 20th anniversary and extends beyond the game into physical stores, where the in-game rooms have been recreated as real installations.

What's on the Cloud Island

The IKEA Island features two distinct rooms, each reflecting the personality of its Pokemon. Pikachu's room is designed around playful socializing — bright colors, open layout, group seating. Snorlax's room leans into cozy relaxation — soft textures, muted tones, the kind of space that makes you want to take a nap. IKEA's designers built both rooms using actual products from their catalog, adapted to Pokopia's visual style.

Players visiting the island can explore the rooms and interact with the furniture arrangements, adding a lifestyle layer to a game that's already built around designing habitats and arranging spaces.

The Real-World Tie-In

If you're in Japan between April 1 and May 10, IKEA stores are running physical recreations of the in-game rooms. There's also a stamp rally from April 18 to May 6, where visitors collect seven unique stamps across stores, plus a raffle campaign through May 10. The Swedish restaurants inside IKEA locations are offering Pokemon paper picks and a dedicated photo spot.

The collaboration is Japan-exclusive, which limits its reach but fits the pattern of Pokemon's regional promotional events. For Pokopia players outside Japan, the cloud island itself is accessible globally.
